Description
Where a 500 m³ tank fits in a plant
A 500,000 L vessel is usually plant-wide buffer capacity: fire reserve, RO permeate, chilled water return, or CIP supply for a large brewhouse or beverage line. It is rarely a stock item. Nozzle positions, ladder orientation and insulation are driven by your piping layout, not by a catalog page.
Fabrication details that decide service life
Shells are rolled from 6–8 mm SUS304 plate with longitudinal seam welds, closed by dished or conical ends depending on drainage and pressure requirements. Vertical tanks above roughly 4 m diameter are shop-fabricated in sections and welded on site; horizontal units ship in one piece up to about 3.5 m diameter. Internal welds are ground flush, then pickled and passivated — a step that matters for potable and process water and that tends to disappear from low quotations. Where feed water carries elevated chlorides or CIP chemistry is aggressive, 316L is worth the extra cost.
Insulation of 50–100 mm rock wool or PU under a stainless or galvanized jacket holds temperature and stops condensation on chilled service. Standard connections cover inlet, outlet, overflow, screened vent, level transmitter, sample port and a side or top manway with davit arm for inspection access.

Questions we get from project engineers
Can it be built to ASME or EN standards? Yes, with third-party inspection and material certificates issued at each stage.
How is it cleaned? Fixed spray balls or a rotating CIP head on a dedicated nozzle; access for manual entry through the manway.
What foundation is needed? A level reinforced concrete ring or slab sized to the loaded weight — roughly 520 t when full, before insulation and fittings.
What affects lead time? Plate thickness, polishing, and whether insulation and cooling coils are included.
Before requesting a quotation, confirm the liquid and its temperature range, chloride content, site ambient conditions, available transport route and crane capacity, and the connection list from your P&ID. Those five items determine the plate thickness, stainless grade and shipping split. Tell us your stored medium, volume, connection schedule and site access limits — we can recommend the tank configuration, insulation and delivery method that fit your plant.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
