Description
Wine Storage Tanks Built Around Your Cellar Layout
Most wineries contact us after outgrowing plastic or fiberglass. The first message usually contains three things: a volume, a footprint, and a question about cooling. We build stainless wine storage tanks from 500L to 10,000L, and the differences between those sizes matter more than the catalog photos suggest.
Tank Construction
Grade 304 covers standard storage. We move to 316L when high acidity, prolonged juice contact, or coastal humidity is in play. Interior welds are ground, polished, and passivated — a rough weld holds tartrate and bacteria no matter how carefully you clean. Wall thickness steps up with diameter, because a 10,000L shell at full load behaves very differently from a 1,000L unit, especially while you are pumping in and out.
Conical or sloped bottoms drain lees without tipping the tank. Flat bottoms cost less and work for short-term storage, but you lose wine at every racking.
Cooling and Jackets
Dimple or channel jackets on the shell, and on the cone for larger sizes, hold 12–18°C through fermentation and cold stabilization. Glycol connections are usually 1.5 in or 2 in tri-clamp. Jacket area has to scale with volume. A small tank with an oversized jacket chills fast and cycles the chiller hard; a large tank with too little jacket simply never gets there.
Specifications
| Capacity | Typical Use | Bottom | Cooling |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500L – 1,000L | Trial lots, reserve barrels | Conical | Single jacket |
| 2,000L – 3,000L | Small commercial cellar | Conical or sloped | Shell jacket |
| 5,000L – 10,000L | Production blending, storage | Sloped or conical | Shell + cone jacket |
Common Questions
What pressure do these hold? Storage tanks are atmospheric, fitted with a relief valve and airlock port. If you need pressure, tell us early — the shell, fittings, and test procedure all change.
How is cleaning handled? A rotating spray ball, CIP return line, and a top manway sized for a person to enter. Spray ball position is calculated from tank diameter, not added at the end.
Do I need a sample valve? Above 1,000L, yes. Three heights save you opening the tank during settling.
Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your winery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
