400L Column Still and Pot Still — What We Actually Build
Most of our 400L orders come from distilleries that outgrew a 100L or 200L pilot still but can\’t justify a 1000L column yet. It\’s a sweet spot: enough volume for a two- or three-day-a-week production schedule, small enough to run on a 480V service or a modest steam boiler.
Where the copper goes matters more than how much copper there is. We use copper for the column plates, the gin basket, and the vapor path above the liquid line. The boiler shell stays SS304 — cheaper to repair, easier to passivate, and once vapor leaves the wash, stainless doesn\’t cost you flavor.

Electric vs steam — if you already have a boiler onsite, jacket heating gives gentler control and no element scorching on grain washes. No boiler? Go electric. Simpler, and easier to get past your inspector.
Before we quote, send the proof you want at the parrot, batch size, wash type (grain, molasses, fruit), ceiling height, and available power. That way we configure the vessel instead of guessing.
