We build commercial distillery equipment for craft distilleries, small whiskey makers, gin producers, and contract bottling plants. Most buyers come to us with a spirit in mind, a building, and a utility budget. The still size usually lands after that.
A 200L or 300L system often runs on electric heating. A small taproom distillery may not have a boiler, and a 30-45 kW element set is simpler to install. Steam shines at 500L and 1000L. If you already run a steam boiler for brewing or food processing, a steam-jacketed still gives gentler heat and faster batch turnaround. If not, the boiler, feedwater treatment, and condensate return add real cost.
Copper contact matters in the vapor path. We use copper for the pot, column sections, gin basket, and condenser necks where sulfur compounds need to be bound. Stainless is fine for the boiler shell, but a stainless column with no copper can make a heavy whiskey taste sharp. On gin, a gin basket above the column and an adjustable reflux condenser give you more control over botanical cut. Agitators help with grain-in or fruit mash; they are not needed for all sugar washes.
Before quoting, send us batch size, ABV target, wash or mash type, heating source, ceiling height, floor drain location, and local electrical supply. We will match 200L, 300L, 500L, or 1000L with your tank room, not just your budget. Shipping, rigging, and commissioning can change the timeline more than the still itself.
