Description
500L Conical Fermenter: Built Around Yeast Recovery
A 500L cone tank usually shows up in a brewery that has outgrown plastic or flat-bottom vessels but isn\’t ready for a full 10–20 BBL cellar. We build this one for brewers who pitch fresh yeast and want it back — not flushed down the drain.
The sloped bottom isn\’t decorative. With a 60-degree cone and a bottom outlet sized for a 1.5–2 inch dump valve, trub and settled yeast drop cleanly into a collection vessel. On hoppy ales, that cone also becomes your dry-hop dump point, which keeps hop matter out of the racking arm.
Materials and Fabrication
Body and cone are 3mm SUS304, thicker at the cone where pressure and yeast weight concentrate. Welds are full-penetration, ground and passivated; interior finishes at Ra ≤ 0.6μm on product contact surfaces. The airtight lid seats on a food-grade EPDM gasket with an adjustable clamp ring — no threaded fittings sitting in the headspace where they can\’t be cleaned.
Cooling comes from a dimpled or channeled jacket on the cone and lower cylinder. Glycol in, glycol out; we size the jacket area against your target crash time. A 500L batch cooling from 68°F to 34°F in 18 hours needs more surface than one in 36 hours, and the price difference is real.

Questions We Get Before Ordering
Why not 316L? For standard wort and clean-in-place caustic, 304 holds up. Go 316L if you run high-chloride water or acidic sours long-term.
Do I need a safety valve and pressure gauge? Yes, if you carbonate in-tank or spund. Specify them at order time; retrofitting a threaded port later means re-passivating the shell.
How does CIP work here? We fit a rotating spray ball in the lid, with the return line at the cone bottom. A 500L tank typically cleans in 15–20 minutes at proper flow.
Insulation? Polyurethane with a stainless cladding if the tank sits in a warm room. Skip it in a cold cellar and save the cost.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
