Description
Conical fermenters at 500L and 1000L are chosen when a brewery needs repeatable fermentation, yeast recovery, and temperature control without moving to larger unitanks yet. We build these tanks as dimple-jacketed vessels with 60° cone, 304 or 316L shell, and clamp or DIN fittings matched to your cellar layout.
Material choice: 304 for standard ale and lager fermentation, 316L when chloride exposure, sour programs, or aggressive CIP chemicals are expected. Interior welds are ground flush and passivated; product contact surfaces go to 0.8 µm Ra or better on request. Exterior can be brushed or mirror polished, but most breweries choose brushed for cost and scratch tolerance. Insulation is 80–100 mm PU, with stainless cladding.
Cooling jacket covers cone and lower cylinder. Glycol inlet and outlet sizes are typically 1.5 inch or 2 inch tri-clamp. For 1000L tanks, we often add two jacket zones if crash cooling from 20°C to 2°C is part of the schedule. A 500L tank may run one zone. Working pressure 0.2–0.3 MPa, test pressure higher, with pressure relief valve and CIP spray ball.
Bottom cone angle matters. 60° works for many beers; 70° or steeper helps with dry-hopped or high-solids beers. If you harvest yeast, cone port with racking arm and butterfly valve. If you only package, simple drain may be enough. Manway size, sample valve, dry-hop port, carb stone, and PRV placement should be decided before fabrication, not after.

FAQ
Can I use one tank for ale and lager?
Yes, if jacket area and glycol supply can handle lager crash cooling. Check your chiller capacity at 1000L before choosing a single-zone tank.
Do I need 316L?
Use 316L for sour beer, high-chloride water, or harsh chemical CIP. Otherwise 304 is common and cost-effective.
How is CIP connected?
We provide CIP spray ball, separate CIP port, and drain. Your pump, caustic tank, and acid cycle connect via tri-clamp. Confirm whether you want fixed or rotary spray ball.
Small brewpubs often start with 500L tanks and add 1000L as demand grows. Commercial breweries may prefer 1000L with larger cone ports and dual jackets. Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
