Description

Where a 1000 L conical fits

Most 1000 L tanks we build go to brewpubs casting 10 hl brews and packaging 20–30 hl a week. It is a single-batch fermenter: one brew, one tank, no blending between vessels. If your brewhouse knocks out 20 hl, step up to 2000 L instead of filling this one twice.

Fabrication details that end up in the beer

The wetted shell is SUS304, 3 mm, 2B finish polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. We TIG weld with argon backing, then pickle and passivate — the crevice under a badly purged weld is where lactobacillus settles in. 316L earns its upcharge when you run sours, heavy dry hopping, or long hot caustic cycles.

A 60° cone drops trub and yeast without a rake. Dimple jackets on the cone and lower cylinder give about 1.2 m² of cooling area; with 4 °C glycol that crashes an ale in under a day. Lagers want the full jacket and a slower ramp.

Pressure and spunding

Working pressure is 0.2 MPa, hydro-tested at 0.3 MPa. A spunding valve lets you carbonate on residual CO2 late in fermentation and cuts gas purchases. Set the PRV at 2.2 bar, and never isolate the CIP arm without a gauge in the line.

Ports and connections

Standard layout: racking arm, sample valve, dry hop port, CIP spray ball, 25 mm glycol in/out, and a 2\” bottom outlet with butterfly and yeast harvest. Tell us your thread standard — DIN, Tri-Clamp, or RJT — and we machine to it.

Questions we get before an order

Can it ferment lagers? Yes, with the full jacket and 2 °C glycol supply. Diacetyl rests run longer in a 1000 L cone than in a 500 L tank, so plan the schedule accordingly.

Is 316L necessary? Only for sour programs, high-chloride water, or aggressive caustic regimes.

How is CIP handled? Spray ball on a dedicated line, 1.5–2% caustic at 60–80 °C, 15 minutes, then acid and a sanitizer cycle.

Can it work as a bright tank? Yes if you order the higher pressure rating and add a carbonation stone.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
