Most 500L orders we ship come from distilleries already running a 200L or 300L pot and turning down accounts. The charge doubles, the run time doesn\’t — six to eight hours start to finish either way — so labor cost per bottle drops hard. People stop at 500L instead of 1,000L for boring reasons: boiler capacity, ceiling height, or a lease they don\’t want to renegotiate.
Copper where it matters, stainless where it doesn\’t
Vapor-path copper takes sulfur out. We build the pot, swan neck, lyne arm, and condenser in copper. Packed column sections and gin baskets we usually leave in 304 — copper liners inside a packed column are miserable to clean after a juniper run. Onion-head pot stills get a full copper vapor path, and that\’s what most whisky and rum customers order.

Steam or electric
Electric elements win when there\’s no boiler and batches run small or irregular. Steam jackets win once you\’re distilling daily — no scorching on grain washes, faster heat-up, lower cost per batch in most plants.
Before we quote
- Spirit type and target ABV — it changes plate count and condenser size.
- Heat source on site, plus steam or power specs.
- Ceiling height and door width at the install spot.
- Whether you need a gin basket, agitator, or CIP.
Send a floor sketch and your steam or power details. That\’s usually enough to quote without a second round of questions, and it keeps freight surprises off the invoice.
