3000L Copper Distillation System: What It Really Handles
Most 3000L rigs we build go to a distillery that has already outgrown its 1000L still. Three stripping runs a day on a small unit gets old fast. One 3000L charge holds roughly 2,400–2,700L of usable wash once you leave headspace for foaming — enough that a whiskey or rum house runs one shift and still fills barrels weekly.

Copper placement matters more than copper volume. You want it where vapor and liquid actually move: column packing, lyne arm, condenser tubes. A copper-clad decorative shell does nothing for sulfur removal.
On heat, steam wins above 2000L, and it isn\’t close. Electric elements at this size pull 90–150kW and a 400A service; steam jackets let you ramp gentler and cut scorching on grain-in washes. If your boiler tops out at 2 bar, tell us early — we\’ll size the jacket surface to match.
Options people ask for: gin basket, agitator for grain-in, CIP ring, and a separate 3000L collection tank for low wines. Add the agitation port if you plan rye or bourbon.
Before we quote, send wash ABV, target proof, batch time, ceiling height for column removal, floor loading, available steam or power, and destination port. That keeps the second revision off your calendar.
