We\’ve built combined pot-and-column stills in the 300L and 500L range for whiskey, gin, brandy, and vodka producers for years. Most buyers who call us are moving up from a 100L or 200L unit, or adding a second still because one run a day no longer covers demand. Here\’s what actually matters when you pick between the two sizes.
Where 300L ends and 500L begins
A 300L charge suits a distillery running three or four mashes a week with one operator on the floor. The 500L is close to the same footprint, but you need a 1,000L fermenter behind it and steam you can actually rely on. We have shipped 500L stills on electric elements — it works, though the element bank gets large and the panel cost climbs fast.

Copper placement and the add-ons worth paying for
Copper belongs in the vapor path. We keep the column, lyne arm, and condenser in copper, and can spec a stainless pot with a copper column if you run high-acid fruit washes that chew through boilers. Gin basket, agitator, CIP spray ball, shotgun versus shell-and-tube condenser — all options, none mandatory. Tell us the spirit and we\’ll tell you which ones you can skip.
For a quote: batch size, target ABV, wash type, heating source, ceiling height, available power or steam pressure, cooling water temperature. Send those and we size the column and condenser the same day. Drawings and shipping weight come with the quote, so check your door widths before signing.
