Description

What a Conical Unitank Actually Does

One vessel covers fermentation, conditioning, and carbonation. The 60-degree cone collects yeast and hop trub at the bottom port, so you can harvest or dump without racking the whole batch. We build 2000L and 3000L units on the same geometry, adjusting cone angle, jacket area, and port layout for different brewhouse sizes.

Materials, Welding, and Surface Finish

Inner shell and cone are SUS304 as standard, SUS316L when the product is highly acidic or the CIP program runs hot caustic daily. Typical wall thickness is 3 mm inner and 2 mm outer, with dimple jackets welded before assembly. All product-contact seams are TIG welded, then pickled and passivated. Interior polish runs 0.4 to 0.8 micron Ra depending on what you brew; heavily hopped IPAs and sours usually justify the finer finish.

Cooling comes from glycol zones: a cone jacket plus one or two shell jackets, each on its own valve, so you can hold 8 to 12 C during active fermentation without freezing the cone. Working pressure is 0.2 MPa with a 0.3 MPa safety valve. If you plan to spund or carbonate in the tank, specify 0.3 MPa working pressure and the matching relief setting. Insulation is 80 to 100 mm polyurethane under stainless cladding, which matters in an unheated cellar.

Questions Buyers Ask Us

How do I size the tank? Match working volume to your batch after kettle losses, then leave 20 to 25 percent headspace for krausen. A 3000L tank comfortably ferments 24 to 25 hl of finished beer.

Can I clean it in place? Yes. A rotating spray ball on the top port with a caustic and acid cycle handles it, provided the cone drains fully and the racking arm is removable.

What about connections? We can pre-fit DIN or tri-clamp ferrules for glycol supply and return, CIP, CO2, and sampling so your contractor only runs pipe to the tank.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
