Description

500L Stainless Steel 304 Fermenter and Storage Tank

This 500L tank suits breweries that need one vessel for fermentation, conditioning, or short-term storage. Working volume is 500 L, total volume about 625 L for krausen headspace and pressure. We build it vertical with a 60° or 70° cone. A 60° cone handles most ale and lager strains; 70° helps with high-hopping or viscous recipes.

Wetted parts are SUS304. If your water or process streams carry chlorides, we can use 316L for product contact. TIG welding with argon purge keeps the interior clean. We grind, pickle, and passivate seams, then polish product contact areas to 0.4–0.8 µm Ra. Exterior is brushed or mirror polished. Gaskets are FDA-grade EPDM or silicone. Ports use Tri-Clamp connections.

Cooling comes from a dimple jacket on the cone and lower cylinder. Glycol at 28–30°F is typical. Jacket area depends on fermentation temperature, ambient conditions, and crash cooling target. We size it so you can hold lager fermentation and crash cool without overshooting. A pressure relief valve, pressure gauge, and optional spunding valve allow pressure fermentation.

CIP uses a rotating spray ball in the top manway. Racking arm, sample valve, dry hop port, and carbonation stone port can be added. Insulation is 80–100 mm polyurethane with a stainless outer shell.

FAQ

Can I use this tank for fermentation and storage? Yes, with a cooling jacket and pressure rating. Many brewpubs use one 500L tank for both.

What cooling area do I need? It depends on batch size, beer type, and glycol temperature. Send your crash cooling target and ambient room temp.

Do I need a conical bottom? A cone helps yeast harvesting and trub removal. Bright beer storage may need only a dish bottom.

How do I connect CIP and glycol? We provide Tri-Clamp ports and jacket inlet/outlet. Your glycol chiller and CIP pump need matching fittings.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
