Where the 500L fits
We build 500L distillation systems for distilleries that have outgrown 200L or 300L runs but don’t want the steam demand, floor space, or capital jump of a 1000L plant. It’s a practical middle size: enough wash charge to make weekly whiskey, rum, or brandy runs profitable, small enough to fit a 6–8 m ceiling with proper column clearance.
Heating: electric vs steam
Electric is simpler for rural sites. You need the right voltage and enough amperage; we usually ask for a load schedule before quoting. Steam gives faster heat-up and gentler control, but it adds a boiler, traps, and piping. If you already run steam for mash cooking, a 500L steam kettle still often makes more sense.
Copper contact and optional parts
Copper belongs in the vapor path—pot, column, and condenser—where it helps strip sulfur. Stainless works for the shell and internal surfaces that don’t need copper contact. Gin basket? Add it if you produce botanical spirits. Agitator? Useful for grain-in distillation or high-solids washes. Reflux condenser and plates depend on your target proof and style.
