Description
We build 1400L copper pot stills for craft distilleries moving past 500L pilot runs but not ready for continuous columns. At this size, you can charge 1,100–1,250 L wash, run 6–9 hour strips, and get enough low wines for a 3–4 day spirit run depending on ABV and still design.
What the 1400 L still handles
Whiskey, rum, gin. For whiskey and rum, a copper pot plus tall copper column or onion head gives reflux control. For gin, we add a gin basket in the vapor path or a separate botanical chamber. Copper contact matters most in the pot, lyne arm, and condenser—not just the outer shell. If your water is aggressive, we can use a stainless steel jacket with a copper vapor path to manage maintenance without losing sulfite stripping.

Heating and options buyers ask about
Steam is common in 1400L because it spreads heat evenly and cuts scorching risk. Electric works where boiler infrastructure is limited, but confirm kW and local supply. An agitator helps grain-in and high-solids rum washes. If you plan gin, tell us botanical load and vapor speed so the basket does not choke.
Before we quote
Send your wash ABV, target proof, batches per week, ceiling height, floor load, available steam or power, and shipping port. We will size the column, condenser, and utilities. Most 1400L systems ship as several skids; allow forklift access and a clear 2.5–3 m ceiling. Spare parts and copper thickness specs come with the drawing set.
