Description

A bright beer tank has one job: hold finished beer cold, under CO2 counterpressure, and deliver it to the filler without picking up oxygen or dropping carbonation. Horizontal models exist for a reason — low ceiling height in the cellar, and a shallower liquid head that keeps the beer from stratifying. We build these in 1000L, 2000L, and 3000L as standard sizes, and to any volume in between.

Fabrication details

Shell and dished heads in SUS304, 3mm plate. SUS316L is available for heavily hopped beers or where acidic cleaners are run aggressively. Interior welds are ground flush, pickled, then passivated; polish to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, with 0.4 µm on request for breweries that do plate testing. Exterior is either 2B mill finish or brushed, matched to the rest of your cellar.

Dimple jackets cover the shell and, where geometry allows, the heads. 80mm polyurethane insulation under 304 cladding. Glycol enters low and exits high so the jacket doesn\’t short-cycle.

A carbonation stone sits on its own port behind a check valve. You also get a sample valve, CIP spray ball on a removable stem, pressure gauge, and an adjustable safety valve. Working pressure is 0.2 MPa, hydro-tested at 0.3 MPa, and we set the relief valve below test pressure at the factory — that relationship matters more than the individual numbers.

Who runs them

Brewpubs filling growlers, contract packagers running two or three packaging days a week, and beverage plants doing carbonated soft drinks or kombucha. A 1000L unit rolls through a standard cellar door; 3000L usually needs a forklift and a wall opening planned in advance.

Model Nominal volume Working pressure Jacket / cooling area Typical footprint (L×W×H)
BBT-1000 1000 L 0.2 MPa Dimple, 1 zone, 1.8 m² 2200×1000×1300 mm
BBT-2000 2000 L 0.2 MPa Dimple, 1 zone, 2.8 m² 2600×1200×1500 mm
BBT-3000 3000 L 0.2 MPa Dimple, 2 zones, 3.6 m² 3000×1400×1600 mm

Questions we get before an order

Horizontal or vertical? Vertical saves floor space. Horizontal fits under a 2.2m ceiling and shortens the run to the filler.

Can carbonation happen in the tank? Yes, through the stone at 1–1.5 bar head pressure. In-line carbonation downstream is faster if you package every day.

How does CIP work? Spray ball on top, bottom drain, caustic at 60–70°C reaches the whole interior. Isolate the stone during caustic cycles or it will clog.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
