Description

10BBL Unitank Conical Fermenter

A 10BBL unitank gives a small craft brewery a working volume around 1,170 L with enough headspace for krausen, dry hopping, and carbonation. We build these vessels for brewers who need one tank to ferment, condition, and sometimes serve beer under pressure. The cone angle is usually 60 degrees, which helps yeast drop and trub collect without blocking the racking arm.

Fabrication and materials

Most tanks are made from SUS304; upgrade to 316L if your cleaning regimen uses chlorinated caustic or you package highly acidic fruit beers. Interior welds are TIG, ground, and passivated. Product contact surfaces finish to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm. Dimple jackets on the cone and side wall circulate glycol; insulation is 80–100 mm PU with a stainless outer skin. Every unit gets a 400 mm manway, CIP spray ball, dry hop port, sample valve, pressure gauge, and adjustable legs.

Typical specifications

Working volume 10 BBL / 1,170 L
Total volume 12.5 BBL / 1,460 L
Material SUS304 or 316L
Interior finish Ra ≤ 0.6 µm
Working pressure 1.5 bar / 22 psi
Test pressure 2.5 bar / 36 psi
Cooling Glycol jackets on cone and body
Insulation 80–100 mm polyurethane
Connections Racking, CIP, blow-off, sample, dry hop, PRV

Practical notes

Jacket area depends on your crash cooling target. A tank that drops 20°C in 24 hours needs more surface than one used for slow ale fermentation. If you plan to carbonate in the unitank, specify the PRV and carbonation stone at order stage; adding them later is possible but costs more. CIP works best with a rotating spray ball, a dedicated pump, and a cycle that reaches every port. Connect the blow-off to a hose or manifold, the glycol loop to a chiller, and the racking arm to a valve you can reach from the floor.

FAQ

Can I use one 10BBL unitank instead of a fermenter and bright tank? Yes for many ales. For very clear lagers or high-volume packaging, a separate bright tank still saves time.

304 or 316L? 304 handles normal brewery cleaning. 316L is worth it where chloride exposure or aggressive fruit acids are common.

How many cooling jackets? Two or three zones usually work for 10BBL. Your ambient temperature, glycol temperature, and crash cooling speed decide the exact area.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
