Description

A 1000 L isobaric fermenter suits breweries that need repeatable batch control without a full production cellar. It works as a unitank: fermentation, maturation, and carbonation in one vessel. A regulated glycol jacket holds temperature, while the pressure-rated body supports spunding, natural carbonation, and counterpressure transfer.

We build these tanks for ales, lagers, stouts, sours, and mixed-fermentation projects. Cone angle matters. A 60° cone helps yeast and trub slide to the bottom drain; 70° suits highly flocculent strains or heavy dry-hop loads. For 1000 L batches, set working volume at 800–1000 L and leave 20–25% headspace for krausen. High-gravity beers or fruit additions need more headspace and a larger manway.

Material selection drives service life. SUS304 handles standard beer, CIP chemicals, and glycol cooling. SUS316L makes sense for sours, high-chloride water, or aggressive cleaning. We TIG weld full-penetration product-contact seams, then pickle and passivate. Interior surfaces finish to 0.4–0.8 µm Ra. Cooling jackets use dimple or laser-welded channels, with 80–100 mm PU insulation and stainless cladding.

Pressure control is not optional. A 1000 L tank may run at 1.5–3 bar, so relief valve, pressure gauge, and butterfly valves must match design pressure. CIP uses a rotating spray ball, separate return, and dedicated sample and racking arms. Plan ports for dry hopping, carbonation stones, and glycol in/out before fabrication.

FAQ

Can I carbonate in this tank? Yes. With a pressure-rated body and relief valve, you can carbonate naturally or with a stone. Confirm target CO2 volumes and pressure before setting the valve.

How do I choose between 304 and 316L? Use 304 for standard ales and lagers. Choose 316L when chloride exposure, sour programs, or extended acid cleaning is routine.

What information do you need for a quote? Batch size, beer type, target CO2, glycol temperature, available height, and port layout. Small brewpubs often need one or two tanks; regional breweries may need a matched cellar with common CIP and glycol headers.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
