Description
A 1500L mash tun that can\’t hold its temperature or mix evenly will drag out your brew day. This unit is sized for roughly 1200–1500L of hot wort per batch and built from 304 stainless (SUS304), with a variable-frequency stirring motor so the operator can adjust shear between mash rest and step-up heating.
We roll the shell from 3mm plate and use full-penetration welds on all product-contact seams, then grind and passivate them. The interior is polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm so a CIP spray ball can do its job without manual scrubbing. The agitator runs on a mechanical seal rated for the working pressure of the vessel — on bottom-mounted drives that seal is the part we see fail first when brewers run the motor dry, so we specify a low-level interlock on request.
Temperature control is handled by a steam or hot-water jacket with a PID-controlled valve. In practice, the jacket design matters more than the controller: a poorly baffled jacket gives you a 6–8 °C spread between the wall and the grain bed, and no amount of tuning fixes that. We zone the jacket to match the tank height.

Do we need perforated false bottom or a lauter tun separately? If you\’re doing single-vessel brewing, you need a false bottom and a raking arm. If you lauter in a separate vessel, the mash tun can run without one.
Steam or electric? Steam jackets recover faster on back-to-back batches. Electric is simpler where no boiler exists, but expect slower ramps on 1500L.
Can it run under pressure? This is a mash vessel, not a fermenter. Keep it at atmospheric and fit the manway accordingly.
