Description

3500 L Red Wine Fermentation Tank with Jacket and PU Insulation

We build this 3500 L tank for wineries that need reliable temperature control during primary fermentation and maceration. The jacket and 80–100 mm PU insulation keep glycol demand predictable, especially when ambient temperatures swing in unheated cellars. Red wine fermentations generate heat quickly; without tight control, you risk stuck ferments, volatile acidity, and extracted tannins that outrun the fruit.

Tank Construction and Materials

Inner shell: 304 or 316L stainless steel, 3 mm. Outer shell: 304, 2 mm. We TIG weld with full penetration on product-contact seams, then pickle and passivate. Interior finishes range from 2B to mirror polish; most wineries specify Ra ≤ 0.8 µm for easier cleaning. The cooling jacket is dimple-plate or channel-plate, sized to your glycol supply. PU insulation is injected at controlled density, then sealed behind the outer skin. Manway, sample valve, racking arm, CIP spray ball, and thermowell are positioned for real cellar work.

Where It Fits

  • Red wine primary fermentation and extended maceration
  • Small commercial wineries and custom crush facilities
  • Blending or temporary storage when fermentation is complete

FAQ

Q: Why does a red wine tank need a jacket?
A: Red fermentations can rise several degrees per day. A jacket lets you run glycol to hold the must in your target range, protecting aromatics and limiting harsh extraction.

Q: Can I use one tank for different red varieties?
A: Yes, but plan cleaning and sanitation between lots. A CIP spray ball and smooth internal welds reduce labor. If you also make white wine, consider a separate tank or confirm the tank can be operated under inert gas.

Q: What information do you need before quoting?
A: Batch size, must temperature target, glycol supply temperature, available height and doorway clearance, and whether you need pump-over or punch-down access. Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your winery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
