Description

6BBL Conical Fermenter for Craft Brewing

This 6BBL conical fermenter is built for breweries that need repeatable fermentation, dry hopping, and conditioning in one vessel. The tank works with ale and lager programs, though cooling area and pressure rating change with the beer style and batch schedule.

We fabricate the body from SUS304 or 316L stainless steel. Most breweries choose 304 for standard beer production; 316L makes sense when chloride exposure, acidic cleaning, or stricter corrosion resistance is a concern. The cone is 60 degrees or 90 degrees depending on yeast handling and tank height. A 60-degree cone helps trub and yeast slide to the bottom outlet, while a 90-degree cone can fit low-ceiling rooms.

Welds are ground and polished on product-contact surfaces. Internal finish is typically 0.4–0.8 µm Ra, with pickling and passivation after fabrication. Exterior can be brushed or mirror polished. Sanitary fittings, DIN or Tri-Clamp, keep gasket contact areas easy to inspect. We use EPDM or silicone seals, and specify the gasket material around your CIP chemicals and operating temperature.

Cooling jackets cover the cone and lower cylinder. Glycol enters through dimpled or channel jackets, and the jacket area is matched to batch size, fermentation heat load, and ambient conditions. A 6BBL tank in a warm room needs more cooling surface than the same tank in a cold cellar. The top manway, dry hop port, CIP spray ball, racking arm, sample valve, and pressure relief valve are selected for your process.

Working pressure matters. A unitank may run 1–2 bar during carbonation or transfer, while atmospheric fermenters stay lower. The safety valve must match the design pressure, not just the gauge reading. We test each tank hydrostatically and document the pressure rating before shipment.

FAQ

Can this tank carbonate beer? Yes, if built as a unitank with the correct pressure rating and relief valve.

How do I clean it? CIP through the spray ball, with the racking arm and sample valve included in the cleaning circuit.

What do you need for a quote? Batch size, beer type, tank quantity, ceiling height, glycol temperature, and available floor space.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
