Description

A conical fermenter has to do two jobs well: drop yeast out of suspension, and hold wort at the temperature the strain actually wants. Our tanks run from 30 L pilot batches to 1000 L production units, built on the same geometry and scaled to the batch size.

The 60-degree cone is standard across the range. It gives trub and flocculated yeast somewhere to collect, and the racking arm sits just above the cone so you pull clear beer instead of dragging the yeast cake back into the tank. On 30 L and 50 L units the cone stays steep enough that hop debris still slides down; at 500 L and 1000 L we add a dry-hopping port and a wider bottom outlet so the cone does not bridge during harvest.

Material and fabrication

Material choice usually follows the product, not the price list. SUS304 covers clean ale and lager production. For kettle sours, cider, kombucha, or anything with a high chloride load, we build in 316L — the molybdenum is cheap insurance against pitting at the weld toes. Inner shells run 3 mm, dimple jackets 1.5–2 mm. Product-contact welds are ground, pickled and passivated; the interior is polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, or 0.4 µm for yeast propagation vessels.

Cooling, pressure, cleaning

Jacket area is sized around your crash, not just your fermentation. A tank that holds 20 °C without effort will stall when you ask it to reach 2 °C in a day, so we calculate glycol temperature, cone and cylinder coverage, and flow rate together. Working pressure is 1.5 bar on standard units, 3 bar on pressure-rated ones, always paired with a relief valve matched to the CO2 volume. CIP is handled by a rotating spray ball sized to the tank diameter, with 1.5\” or 2\” tri-clamp ports for blow-off, racking, sampling and glycol.

Model Nominal volume Inner diameter Jacket Working pressure
CF-30 30 L 300 mm Cone + cylinder 1.5 bar
CF-50 50 L 350 mm Cone + cylinder 1.5 bar
CF-100 100 L 450 mm Cone + cylinder 1.5 bar
CF-500 500 L 800 mm Cone + cylinder 1.5 / 3 bar
CF-1000 1000 L 1050 mm Cone + cylinder 1.5 / 3 bar

Common questions from buyers

30 L or 1000 L? Match the tank to your largest single batch, not your annual output. Oversized tanks leave headspace that slows cooling and wastes glycol; undersized ones force double brews.

Do I need 316L? Only if your product is acidic or chloride-bearing. For standard beer, 304 with proper passivation lasts decades.

Can I carbonate in the tank? Yes, on pressure-rated units with a relief valve set above your target carbonation pressure.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
