How we actually build these
We weld the boiler in 304 stainless and keep copper where it earns its place: the pot, the onion head, the lyne arm, and the column internals. That\’s where sulfur compounds bind and where the spirit picks up its mouthfeel. Lining the whole shell in copper looks good in photos, but it adds cost you never taste.
Most buyers start at 200L or 300L. That size suits a taproom or farm distillery running one or two stripping runs a week. 500L is the jump point for a regional brand selling into stores. Past 1000L, you usually already own a boiler, a forklift, and a floor drain sized for it.
Heat source decides more than the still does
Electric is what we ship to roughly 70% of small distilleries. No boiler, no steam permit, easier install — but your service has to back it up. A 500L electrically heated unit typically wants 60–90 kW, three-phase. If the building tops out at 200 amps, plan for steam instead. Steam jackets give gentler heat and handle grain-in mash without scorching.
Options we get asked for constantly: a gin basket in the vapor path, an agitator for grain-in washes, a shell-and-tube condenser instead of a worm coil, extra bubble plates, CIP spray balls, and a parrot with a proof hydrometer. Each one moves the quote, so tell us up front.
Before you ask for a quote
Send us spirit type, batch size in liters, runs per week, heat source, available power or steam, ceiling height, and destination port. We\’ll return a drawing and an honest timeline — usually 35–55 days for a copper pot still, longer with custom radii or engraving.
