Description
What This Tank Is Built For
A 15 BBL conical fermenter is a working tank, not a showpiece. It has to hold pressure, crash cool, dump yeast, and clean up fast enough that your cellar schedule does not slip. We build these unitanks for breweries running ales and lagers where temperature control is the difference between a consistent flagship and a batch that goes down the drain.
Materials and Fabrication
We use 304 stainless steel as standard, with 316L available for aggressive cleaning chemicals or coastal environments. The inner shell is typically 3 mm, dimple jacket 1.5–2 mm depending on pressure rating. Welds are full-penetration TIG, ground and passivated on product-contact surfaces. Interior finish is 2B or better; we can go to 320 grit polish if your QA program requires it. Every tank is hydro-tested and pressure-tested before shipment.
Cooling and Pressure
The jacket covers the cone and lower cylinder. That is where active fermentation generates heat. Glycol enters through a dedicated port, and we size the jacket area around your crash-cooling target, not just the batch volume. Working pressure is normally 15 psi, with a safety valve set to match. Do not confuse working pressure with the relief setting. The valve protects the tank; the working pressure tells you what you can ferment under.
Ports, CIP, and Connections
Standard layout includes a racking arm, sample valve, dry-hop port, CIP spray ball, and pressure gauge. We can add a carb stone, butterfly valves, or a separate blow-off arm. Tell us how you plan to CIP, and we will place the spray ball so the cone and sidewalls actually get contact.
Selection Notes
A 15 BBL tank fits most microbreweries. A 30 BBL unitank makes sense when you are packaging in larger runs and want fewer transfers. Small brewpubs often need smaller batches and more flexibility. Commercial breweries care about floor space, glycol load, and how the tank ties into an existing cellar.
FAQ
Can this tank carbonate? Yes, with the right pressure rating and carbonation stone.
What voltage? We supply tanks without controls unless requested. Glycol units are specified separately.
Lead time? Typically 30–45 days depending on configuration.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
