Description

What these vessels are built for

These are cylindroconical unitanks used for primary fermentation and, when pressure-rated, for carbonation and cold crash in the same tank. Working volumes run from 500 L for pilot batches up to 3000 L for a mid-size brewpub. Each tank is built to order — diameter, jacket coverage and port layout follow your batch size, glycol supply temperature and available floor space.

Material and fabrication

Shell and cone are 304 stainless, 3 mm plate on 500–1000 L units and 4 mm on 2000–3000 L. Where wort or cider sits for long periods, or CIP chemistry is aggressive, product-contact surfaces move to 316L. Interior welds are ground, brushed and passivated; a 0.8 µm mechanical polish is available, and the exterior can be 2B or mirror-finished.

Cooling comes from dimple jackets on the cone and lower cylinder, sized so the tank drops from 20 °C to 2 °C overnight with 28–30% glycol. A 60° cone is standard. Steeper cones are worth specifying if you dry hop heavily or crop yeast daily.

Pressure and cleaning

Working pressure is normally 1.5–2.0 bar, hydro-tested at 1.5×. Every unit ships with a safety valve, pressure gauge and a blow-off arm that doubles as a CO2 port. A rotating CIP spray ball, racking arm, sample valve and dry-hop port are standard, and all fittings are tri-clamp for quick breakdown.

Model Working volume Total volume Cone Working pressure
FT-500 500 L 625 L 60° 1.5 bar
FT-1000 1000 L 1250 L 60° 1.5 bar
FT-2000 2000 L 2500 L 60° 2.0 bar
FT-3000 3000 L 3750 L 60° 2.0 bar

Common questions

Do I need a conical bottom? If you repitch yeast or want to drop trub without transferring, yes. Flat-bottom tanks only make sense for open fermentation styles.

Why not simply buy the largest tank? Oversized tanks with undersized jackets cannot crash-cool a half batch. Match the jacket area to the volume you actually brew most weeks.

How does CIP work? Spray ball on top, return from the cone bottom, caustic at 60–80 °C, then acid rinse. Tri-clamp fittings let you pull valves apart for inspection.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
