What This Tank Is Built For

A 2000 liter sanitary serving and storage tank isn\’t just a bigger version of a 500L unit. At this volume, breweries typically use it as a bright beer tank before packaging, or as a holding vessel between filtration and the filler. The pressure vessel pump matters more than most buyers expect. Without controlled transfer pressure, you risk knocking CO2 out of solution, and that shows up as foamy fills or inconsistent carbonation later.

Material and Fabrication Details

We build the shell and dished ends from 304 stainless as standard, with 316L available when the product is exposed to chlorides or aggressive cleaning agents. Product contact surfaces are pickled and passivated after welding, then polished to a Ra of 0.8 µm or better. The outer shell often stays in a brushed finish unless the tank sits in a visible packaging area.

Welds are full-penetration TIG on product contact seams. We do not rely on cosmetic grinding to hide incomplete fusion. Every jacket and vessel seam gets dye-penetrant or hydro testing before shipment.

Cooling, Pressure, and Cleanability

Dimple or channel jackets cover the lower cylindrical section and, on request, the cone. Glycol at 28–30°F keeps the beer stable during storage. The tank is rated for a working pressure of 1.5–2.0 bar, with an adjustable pressure-relief valve set according to your carbonation target. CIP is handled through a rotating spray ball in the dome, with a separate port for the return line. The pump package is mounted on a stainless frame with isolation valves so the tank can be isolated without draining the whole line.

Practical Configuration Notes

For a 2000L tank, we usually recommend a 60-degree cone if you plan to harvest yeast or push sediment to the bottom. If the tank is purely for bright beer storage before packaging, a shallow cone or flat bottom with a side draw-off may fit better and costs less. Small brewpubs and regional breweries end up with different port layouts. A pub serving tank often needs a front sample valve and a carb stone port, while a packaging brewery wants a racking arm and a dedicated CIP return.

Common Questions from Brewers

Can this tank carbonate beer? Yes, with a carb stone port and the pressure pump, but confirm the relief valve setting matches your target volumes of CO2.

Do I need a cone bottom? Only if you plan to drop yeast or push sediment. For clear beer storage, a flat or shallow cone works and saves height.

How is the pump connected? We supply a sanitary pump with tri-clamp fittings, usually mounted below the tank outlet on a common frame.

What about CIP? We include a spray ball and a separate return port. You supply the pump and caustic loop.

Before You Request a Quote

Know your batch size, beer type, carbonation target, available ceiling height, and whether the tank will sit in a cold room or a warm packaging hall. Those details decide the jacket area, cone angle, and port layout. If you are adding this tank to an existing brewhouse, send us the line sizes and glycol supply temperature.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
