Description

Where a 2000L Tank Fits

This fermenter suits a brewhouse casting 10–12 hl per turn. Most buyers pair it with a 1000L brewhouse running two brews back-to-back, or a 2000L brewhouse on a single cast. Working volume is 2000L, but the gross tank runs 2400–2500L so krausen has room. Filling a conical to the rim is the most common mistake we see on the production floor.

Fabrication Notes

Shell and cone are built in SUS304; SUS316L is used for kettle sours, fruited beers with high chloride load, and any program where pitting risk matters. Plate thickness runs 3–4mm on the body. Dimple or pillow-plate jackets cover the cone and two cylinder zones, so you can crash from 20°C to 2°C without stratification. Welds are fully penetrated, ground, pickled and passivated; internal Ra is held at 0.8µm or better when the tank will carry mixed-culture or Brett work.

The 400mm side manhole gives access for manual scrubbing when a spray ball alone will not do it. A dedicated hop port lets you add pellets or whole cones without breaking the tank seal, which keeps dissolved oxygen pickup down during dry hopping. Racking arm, sample valve, CIP spray ball, pressure gauge, and an adjustable safety valve round out the fitting set.

Common Questions

Can it carbonate in-tank? Yes, if you order the pressure-rated version with a spunding valve. Below 0.15 MPa you cannot reach typical 2.5 vol CO2 without a carbonation stone and glycol support.

Why conical rather than flat bottom? Yeast cropping and trub dumping are the reason. A 60° cone lets you drop slurry cleanly and re-pitch. Flat tanks force you to rack off, which costs beer.

How is CIP handled? A rotating spray ball on the top manway, connected to a pump and caustic loop. If the tank is tall, ask for two spray balls so the cone gets coverage.

Small taprooms usually need one or two tanks and accept manual cleaning. Commercial breweries order banks of four or more and should specify glycol header sizing and valve layout up front.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
