Description

2000L–4000L Stainless Steel Cylindroconical Fermentation Tanks

When a brewery moves from pilot batches to full production, the fermenter becomes the bottleneck. A 2000L cylindroconical tank is often the first vessel sized for a real sales program, and it needs to do more than hold wort. It must hold pressure, crash cool, dump yeast cleanly, and survive years of caustic CIP.

We build these tanks in 2000L, 3000L, and 4000L working volumes. The cone angle is normally 60 degrees for standard ale and lager fermentation, though we can go steeper for highly flocculant strains. The body and cone are formed from SUS304 or, for high-chloride areas or acidic sours, SUS316L. Plate thickness is typically 3mm on the shell and 4mm on the cone for tanks in this range. All product-contact welds are TIG, full penetration, then ground and pickled. Interior surface finishes to 0.4–0.6 µm Ra are standard; we can reach 0.3 µm for yeast-forward or pharmaceutical-adjacent work.

Cooling is handled by dimpled or laser-welded jacket zones on the cone and lower cylinder. Glycol enters at 28–30°F and exits around 34–36°F depending on load. Two or three jacket zones let you crash cool without freezing the cone, which is a common mistake when breweries spec a single large jacket. Every tank leaves with a pressure relief valve set at 2.5–3.0 bar, a racking arm, a dry-hop port, and a CIP spray ball sized to cover the full cone and shell.

Small brewpubs often ask for 2000L tanks on a single skid. Commercial breweries usually group 3000L or 4000L vessels around a common glycol header. The choice depends on batch size, fermentation time, and how many turns per week you need. Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
