Description

What This Fermentation Machine Does

This unit is a jacketed fermentation tank for beer, cider, kombucha, and fuel-grade ethanol fermentation. We build it around your batch size, not a catalog volume. A 10 BBL brewhouse and a 200 L pilot system need different geometry, cooling area, and fittings. The tank controls fermentation temperature, holds pressure during carbonation or transfer, and gives you a cleanable vessel that fits a brewery floor plan.

Materials, Welding, and Finish

Most brewery customers choose SUS304 for beer and beverage service. For high-chloride CIP cycles or ethanol with aggressive washdown, 316L is the better call. We TIG weld the shell, cone, and jacket; then pickle and passivate the heat-affected zones. Interior welds are ground flush and polished to 0.4–0.8 µm Ra when required. Exterior can be brushed or mirror polished. Sanitary gaskets, DIN/ISO tri-clamp ports, and a 60° cone reduce yeast collection and drain time.

Cooling, Pressure, and Cleaning

Dimple or channel cooling jackets on the cone and side wall let you crash from 68°F to 34°F without overshooting. Glycol inlet/outlet ports are sized for your chiller loop. Working pressure typically 1.5–3 bar; we set the PRV and pressure gauge to match your carbonation or transfer method. CIP uses a rotating spray ball, dedicated CIP inlet, and bottom drain. Connect CO2, blow-off, racking arm, sample valve, and glycol lines with standard tri-clamp fittings.

Typical Applications

Craft breweries, brewpubs, contract canners, distilleries, and ethanol pilot plants use these tanks. A 7–15 BBL unit suits a small taproom with limited floor space. Commercial breweries often specify multiple 30–60 BBL tanks with higher cooling capacity and larger manways. Ethanol makers may ask for explosion-proof instrumentation and vapor-tight fittings.

FAQ

How do I choose tank volume? Match 1.2–1.5 times your batch size for headspace, depending on krausen and fermentation style.

Do I need a conical bottom? Yes for yeast harvesting, dry hopping, and carbonation. Flat-bottom tanks work for some cider or ethanol, but cone tanks simplify cleaning and transfer.

What information do you need for a quote? Batch size, beer type, number of tanks, available height, glycol temperature, CIP method, and pressure requirements.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
