Description
Where a 2000–5000 L Tank Fits
Most requests for this size range come from wineries stepping up from plastic or fiberglass, or from beverage plants that need one vessel for red must, white juice settling, and finished wine held before bottling. One shell can cover all three jobs if the fittings are decided before fabrication starts. Changing a port layout after the tank is welded means cutting and re-passivating, which costs more than specifying it correctly the first time.
Material, Welding, Surface
We fabricate in 316L for acidic must and juice, and in 304 when the product is less aggressive and the budget is tighter. Sheet thickness runs 2–4 mm depending on capacity and whether the tank sits on legs or on a skirt. Interior welds are ground flush, passivated, and either left at 2B mill finish or polished below 0.4 µm Ra for tanks cleaned in place. Dimple or laser-welded cooling jackets cover the lower cylinder and cone; insulation is 50–100 mm polyurethane under a 304 outer shell.
Cooling, Pressure, Cleaning
Glycol at –5 to 5 °C is typical. Working pressure is normally 0.2–0.3 MPa with a hydro test above that, and every unit ships with a safety valve and pressure gauge sized to the shell, not to the jacket. A CIP spray ball on its own port, a racking arm above the cone, a sample valve, and a top manway are standard. Dry hopping or must addition ports get added on request.

Questions We Get Often
Conical or flat bottom? Cones suit red fermentation and yeast recovery; flat bottoms suit short-term storage where floor height is limited.
Glycol or chilled water? Glycol for active fermentation control, chilled water is enough for storage rooms.
Will it fit through the door? Send the doorway width. We can split a 5000 L shell or adjust leg height instead of shipping a tank that has to be craned in.
How does CIP connect? One dedicated port for the spray ball, one for return, plus a drain at the lowest point of the cone.
Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of tanks and available space. We can recommend tank volume, cooling area, and port configuration for your cellar.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
