Description

Berry wine ferments fast and hot. Raspberry, blackberry, and elderberry musts can climb several degrees in a single day, and heat that isn\’t pulled out early takes aroma with it. These tanks are built around that reality rather than around a catalog photo.

Bodies are rolled from 304 stainless as standard; we move to 316L when the must stays below pH 3.2 or when heavy SO2 dosing is routine. Interior welds are ground flush and passivated, with product-contact surfaces polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm on request. For pulp-heavy fruit we use a 60° cone so seeds and skins drop cleanly instead of bridging above the outlet. Exterior gets a #4 or mirror finish, 50–100 mm polyurethane insulation, and a 304 cladding skin.

Temperature control comes from dimple or pillow-plate jackets on the cone and lower cylinder. Single-zone jackets suit vessels up to roughly 5,000 L; larger tanks get two or three zones with independent glycol valves, which matters when you are pulling heat out of 12,000 L of must and still holding 18 °C. Standard working pressure is 1.5 bar, hydro tested at 2.5 bar, and the relief valve is sized for the jacket circuit rather than the tank volume — a detail that gets missed more often than it should.

Cleaning runs through a rotating spray ball in the top manway fed by 1.5\” tri-clamp. A racking arm, sample valve, and butterfly outlet are standard; side manways, load cells, and glycol control panels are optional. Skid-mounted and portable versions are available for producers working in rented space.

Capacity 500–20,000 L
Material 304 or 316L stainless steel
Interior finish Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, passivated
Cooling zones 1–3, dimple or pillow plate
Working pressure 1.5 bar (2.5 bar test)
Cone angle 60° standard
Insulation 50–100 mm PU foam
Connections Tri-clamp, DIN or SMS

What capacity should I order? Size to your largest single-variety ferment and leave 20–25% headspace for foam. Two 2,000 L tanks usually serve berry work better than one 4,000 L tank.

Do I need 316L? Most berry wines run fine in 304. Choose 316L for low-pH musts, coastal air, or long lees contact.

Can it be pressurized for carbonation? Yes, up to 1.5 bar working pressure with the matching relief setting. Tell us your target CO2 volume before we weld the fittings.

Tell us your batch size, fruit type, number of fermentation tanks and available floor space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and jacket configuration for your winery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
