Description
Square Single Wall Wine Fermentation Tanks with Cooling Jacket Belt/Coil
Square fermenters make sense when floor space is tight and you need to group tanks along a wall or in a cold room. We manufacture single-wall square wine fermentation tanks with either a cooling jacket belt or a coil, depending on batch size, available chilled water temperature, and how quickly you need to pull heat out of the must.
For most winery work, we use 304 stainless steel for the tank body and 316L for areas exposed to higher acidity or cleaning chemicals. Sheet thickness typically ranges from 2 mm to 4 mm, with internal welds ground flush and pickled. Exterior surfaces can be brushed or mirror polished. The manway, sample valve, racking port, and drain are positioned around the operator’s working height, not just according to a standard drawing.
Cooling jacket belts are simple and cost-effective for smaller square tanks. A dimpled or channeled belt is welded to the side wall, and the chilled water or glycol flows through it. Coil cooling gives more surface area inside the tank, which helps during active fermentation when heat generation is high. Both designs need a properly sized chiller and flow rate. A common mistake is ordering the tank first and matching the chiller later. That usually leads to slow cooling or temperature swings.
Typical applications
- Small wineries and micro-wineries with limited floor space
- Fruit wine, cider, and specialty beverage fermentation
- Cellar expansions where tanks must fit existing aisles
- Pilot batches and seasonal production

FAQ
Can I use one tank for red and white wine? Yes, but confirm the drain height and jacket coverage. Red fermentation needs more cooling capacity during peak activity.
Do I need a coil or a belt? For tanks under about 1,000 L, a belt often works. Larger tanks or fast fermentations usually benefit from coil cooling.
How do I connect CIP and glycol? We supply tri-clamp fittings and can match your existing hose and manifold sizes. Send us a simple line drawing before fabrication.
Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your winery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
