Description

Built for 80 HL batches, not for display

Most inquiries about an 8000L unitank come from breweries that have outgrown 20–40 HL tanks and want one full brew in one vessel. At 80 HL (8 T) nominal, working volume usually lands around 6400–6800 L, which leaves headspace for krausen and foam. That headspace is the number people get wrong. Fill the tank to the top with a high-gravity ale and foam will find the CIP arm on day two.

Materials and fabrication

SUS304 is our standard for shell, cone and jackets. Breweries running sour programs, high-chloride water or heavy fruit additions usually upgrade product-contact surfaces to 316L — chloride pitting along a cone seam is expensive to repair later. Plate thickness runs 3–4 mm on the cylinder and 4 mm on the cone. Welds are TIG, full penetration on product contact, ground flush, then pickled and passivated. Interior finish is 0.4–0.6 µm mechanical polish; exterior is satin or mirror with 80–100 mm PU insulation between shell and cladding.

Cooling, pressure, cleaning

Jackets cover the cone and lower cylinder, normally two or three independent zones so you can crash the cone while the body holds fermentation temperature. Glycol in and out through 1.5\” or 2\” tri-clamp ports, with baffles to keep flow even and avoid dead spots. Design pressure is 0.3 MPa; the safety valve and gauge are set to a 0.2 MPa working pressure, and the manway gasket carries the same rating. A rotating CIP spray ball in the top manway handles caustic and acid cycles without opening the tank.

FAQ

Can one tank serve as both fermenter and bright tank? Yes, if the jacket area and pressure rating suit carbonation. Confirm the carbonation level before ordering.

How many cooling zones do I need? Two is workable for ales. Lagers and crash cooling benefit from three.

What glycol supply do you recommend? Size the chiller for simultaneous crash on the largest number of tanks you plan to cool at once, not the total tank count.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
