Description

A 10 HL brewhouse is the point where a pilot system stops being a pilot. When buyers ask for 1000 L / 10 BBL equipment, they are usually planning three to five brews a week with fermentation capacity sized to match. That is why the brewhouse and the fermenters should be quoted together: mash tun, lauter tun, kettle, whirlpool, heat exchanger, fermenters, and the piping that ties them to your glycol and CIP loops.

How we build it

Product-contact surfaces are SUS304 as standard, with 316L available where chloride levels in your cleaning chemicals or water supply justify the cost. Vessels are TIG welded with full penetration on the jacket seams, then pickled and passivated. Interior welds are ground flush and mechanically polished to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm; exterior welds are left with a uniform bead, which stays clean and shows honestly in an inspection.

Cone angle matters more than most spec sheets admit. A 60° cone moves yeast reliably at 1000 L scale, while 90° cones suit dry-hopping and higher trub loads. Glycol jackets are dimpled, welded on the cone and lower cylinder, sized for a 1.5–2 °C crash cooling window rather than just steady-state holding.

Working volume 1000 L (10 HL / ~8.5 US BBL nominal)
Material SUS304 (SUS316L optional)
Interior finish Ra ≤ 0.6 µm, pickled and passivated
Cone 60° standard, 90° on request
Cooling Dimpled glycol jacket, cone + lower cylinder
Pressure 1.5 bar working (3 bar optional, with relief valve)
Insulation / cladding 80 mm PU, SUS304 outer shell

Questions we get before the drawing stage

Is 10 HL the same as 10 BBL? No. Those labels come from different markets, and the working volume is actually set by straight-wall height. Give us the batch size in liters and we will size accordingly.

Do I need a relief valve? If you spund or carbonate in the tank, yes — pressure rating and valve setting must be matched, and the valve should be accessible for testing.

How does CIP tie in? Spray ball in the dome, return line at the cone. We size pump flow against your pipe runs so the spray ball actually wets the walls instead of just running down one side.

Small breweries and regional producers part ways on tank count, not tank size. A taproom setup may run two fermenters and one bright tank; a distribution brewery needs more small tanks for flexibility rather than fewer big ones.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
