Description

Where this tank fits in a real brewery

Most inquiries in the 1000L–5000L range come from breweries that have already run a few hundred batches in single-wall tanks and now need vessels that hold pressure, hold temperature, and can be cleaned without being taken apart. This is a jacketed, conical-bottom vessel supplied with an integrated PLC panel and transfer pump. Valve it one way and it ferments; valve it another and it holds bright beer at 1°C for a week.

Materials and fabrication

The inner shell is SUS304 as standard. We move to SUS316L when the product is cider, kettle sour, or anything carrying a chloride load — the extra cost is small compared with replacing a pitted shell in year three. Plate runs 3 mm on 1000–2000L units and 4 mm from 3000L up. Interior welds are ground flush, passivated, and polished to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm on wetted surfaces; the exterior is 2B or brushed. Each vessel is hydro-tested at 1.5× design pressure and held overnight before crating.

Cooling, pressure, and cleaning

Dimple or laser-welded jackets cover 60–80% of the shell. A 1000L tank usually needs 1.5–2 m² of cooling area to crash from 20°C to 2°C in a workable time, and that figure does not scale linearly — a 5000L tank with the same jacket ratio will crash noticeably slower, so we add jacket area and recommend a larger chiller. Working pressure is 0.2 MPa with a 0.3 MPa safety valve; we build 0.3/0.4 MPa versions for carbonation in tank. CIP enters through a rotating spray ball in the dome on its own line — never share the CIP return with the racking arm, or you will pull beer back through it.

Parameter Range
Nominal volume 1000–5000 L
Wetted material SUS304 / SUS316L
Inner finish Ra ≤ 0.6 µm, passivated
Cooling jacket Dimple or laser-welded, 60–80% coverage
Working pressure 0.2 MPa (0.3 MPa optional)
Cone 60° or 75°
Insulation 80–100 mm PU, stainless cladding
Control PLC, temperature and pressure logging
Connections Tri-clamp / DIN, CIP and racking ports

Questions we get before an order

60° or 75° cone? 60° drains cleanly with a standard 1.5 in outlet and suits ale strains. Go 75° when you dry hop heavily or ferment high-gravity wort and want the yeast cake to slide without help.

How many tanks for a 2000L brewhouse? Plan on three to four fermenters per brew length if you package weekly; two only works with very short turnarounds.

Can one PLC run several tanks? Yes, up to eight vessels on a single panel with individual zone control, which is usually cheaper than eight standalone controllers.

What about shipping? Tanks above 3000L ship as two sections with a field weld kit; our technician can attend commissioning if you need it documented.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
