Description
What a 1000L Tank Actually Has to Do
Most breweries asking about a 1000L unit are stepping out of pilot batches into a schedule that has to hold week after week. The vessel itself is simple. What decides whether your fermentation curve repeats is the jacket layout, the cone angle, and how cleanly the tank drains and cleans between turns.
We build this as a vertical cylindrical fermenter with a 60° cone, a 400 mm top manway for dry hopping and manual inspection, and a dimple jacket welded directly to the shell. Dimple pattern gives better surface contact than a coil jacket and lets us hold a tighter shell tolerance during welding.
Materials and Fabrication
Standard build is SUS304, 3 mm inner shell, with SUS316L available when the water is high in chloride or you run sours in the same vessel. Interior is pickled and passivated, then polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm on product contact surfaces; the exterior is either brushed or mirror finish depending on whether the tank sits in a public taproom.
- Dimple jacket on the cone and lower shell, rated 0.3 MPa, with independent glycol in/out ports
- Rotating CIP spray ball, racking arm, sample valve and pressure/vacuum relief on the top plate
- Tri-clamp connections throughout so the tank integrates with your existing brewery fittings

Common Questions
Do I need a conical bottom?
If you crop yeast and want to drop trub without transferring, yes. For cask conditioning or open-top styles, a dish bottom is cheaper and easier to clean.
How is CIP handled?
Spray ball plus a pump and caustic loop is enough. Keep the manway gasket and sample valve seats in your PM schedule — those are where contamination usually shows up first.
How does this differ from a commercial-scale tank?
Small brewpubs usually accept a single jacket zone and manual temperature control. Larger plants want two zones, a larger cone, and welded glycol headers.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
