400L Copper Still for Distilleries That Run a Real Schedule
Most 400L orders we ship go to people who already have a smaller still running. They\’ve hit the ceiling on a 200L — too many runs, too much time lost cleaning between batches. Others are wineries adding a brandy line, or gin producers who want a dedicated basket-charged run without tying up the main column.
Start with copper contact. On our 400L the pot, swan neck, and column internals are all copper, because that\’s where sulfur compounds actually get scrubbed. A unit with a copper shell and stainless in the vapor path looks the same in a photo and does none of that work.

Electric or steam?
That\’s a utility decision, not a quality one. If you have a boiler on site, steam gives you faster heat-up and easier control on a 400L charge. Electric works fine in a building without steam, but check your panel — a 400L electric still can pull 30–45kW and will trip a 60A service.
We\’ve built enough of these to know where projects go sideways: ceiling height for column removal, floor loading on a mezzanine, and whether the condenser loop has a chiller or just city water.
Before we quote, send feed ABV, target proof, heating source, ceiling height, power supply, and destination port. Sizing is usually obvious from those five lines — guessing wastes everyone\’s month.
