Where a 400L Copper Pot Still Fits
Most of these stills leave our shop for one of two reasons. Either a distillery has been running a 200L pilot unit and keeps bumping into the batch-count ceiling, or someone already owns a 1000L column and wants a copper pot for flavored spirits — whisky, rum, or a dedicated gin run that won\’t tie up the main line.
Four hundred liters sits in a comfortable middle. Charged to about 75%, that\’s roughly 300L in the boiler and 90–110L of high wines per run, depending on your wash and where you cut. Two runs a day is realistic with a single operator.
Copper in the vapor path, not just the shell
Boiler, swan neck, and lyne arm all run copper on our units. Sulfur from grain and molasses binds to hot copper, so the contact has to happen where vapor moves. We use 3mm plate on the boiler and 2mm on the neck. When a supplier quotes a stainless boiler with a copper-clad column, it\’s a different machine with different results.
Steam coils or electric elements
Steam holds temperature steadier and runs cleaner, but you need a boiler on site and a licensed operator in most places. Electric is simpler to install — budget 24–36kW for this capacity, and check your panel and service size before anything else.

Before you ask for a quote
Send us the spirit you\’re making, target ABV off the still, batch size, steam pressure or electrical service available, plus ceiling height and the widest door on the route in. Those five numbers decide the condenser size, column height, and whether the unit ships in one piece or three.
