We build these red copper stills for small and mid-size distilleries that run whiskey, brandy, and gin on the same footprint. The 4-layer tower trays are the part that matters most — they give you reflux control without bolting on a separate column, so one run can lean heavy and brandy-like or clean and gin-forward, depending on how the plates are valved and how you drive the heat.
Where copper earns its place in the vapor path
Copper contact strips sulfides. We spec copper for the boiler, column, trays, and lyne arm — the full vapor path. The condenser shell is usually stainless, since it handles liquid rather than vapor, and copper there mostly adds cost and weight without changing the spirit.
Electric vs. steam, and the options that come up
Under 500L, most customers go electric — simpler utilities, no boiler room. Above that, steam jackets pay off quickly when you\’re running back-to-back batches. A gin basket sits in the column above the trays; a variable-speed agitator helps with grain-in washes; a dephlegmator is worth adding if you want tighter fraction cuts on neutral spirit.
Sizing, and what to send before we quote
A 200L suits a taproom stillhouse doing a few barrels a week. 300–500L fits a regional brand with steady production. 1000L and up is a shift-based operation. Tell us your target ABV, batch volume per run, available heating source, ceiling height, and floor loading — and doorway width for delivery, which surprises more people than it should.
