Description

What These Vessels Are Built For

Wine fermenter stock tanks in this range — 1000L, 1500L, 2000L, 3000L, 4000L, 5000L and 10000L — fill the gap between a small craft cellar and a full production winery. The same shell geometry handles fermentation, settling, blending and cold storage, so a winery can standardize fittings across the tank farm instead of keeping spare parts for five different vessel types.

Configuration Choices That Matter

Bottom shape drives most of the decision. Flat-bottom tanks with a sloped outlet work well for storage and clarification. A conical bottom at 60° or 90° lets you drop lees and yeast without heavy racking losses. Jacketed versions use dimple or channel jackets on the shell and cone, sized for glycol entering at -5°C to 10°C, with 50–100 mm polyurethane insulation under stainless cladding.

For material, 304 covers standard must and wine contact. Step up to 316L when the cellar handles high-chloride wash water, salted cleaning agents or highly acidic fruit blends. Interior welds are ground and passivated, polished to Ra ≤ 0.8 µm on request; the standard finish is 2B mill with dressed welds. Every tank is hydro-tested and pressure-tested before crating.

Fittings, Pressure and Cleaning

A closed-top tank needs a correctly sized pressure/vacuum relief valve — commonly set around 1.5–2 bar working pressure with vacuum break near -0.5 bar — plus a CIP spray ball, sample valve, racking arm, and tri-clamp ports for glycol in/out, level and temperature sensors. We can match your existing manway, thermometer and drain standard so hoses, gaskets and clamps stay interchangeable across the cellar.

Typical Capacity Selection

Volume Common Use Bottom
1000L – 1500L Trial lots, micro-winery, pilot batches Flat or 60° cone
2000L – 3000L Craft winery fermentation, blending 60° cone, jacketed
4000L – 5000L Commercial fermentation and cold settling 90° cone, jacketed
10000L Bulk storage, large-lot fermentation Flat or shallow cone

FAQ

Do I need a jacket if my cellar stays cool? Ambient control rarely holds a ferment within 2°C. A jacket gives you active control during the warmest 48 hours, which is where flavor drift happens.

Can the tank be used for red and white? Yes, but plan the fittings around your worst case — red fermentation with cap management needs more headspace than white settling.

How is CIP handled? A rotating spray ball on the top manway plus a cone drain returns cleaning solution fully. Confirm pump pressure and ball size at order stage.

Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of tanks and available floor space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your cellar.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
