Description

Conical Fermenters Built for Production Brewing

When a brewery moves from pilot batches to full production, the fermenter becomes the bottleneck or the backbone—depending on how it\’s specified. We build 2000L and 5000L conical fermenters for breweries that need consistent fermentation, reliable temperature control, and a vessel that holds up to daily CIP cycles. These tanks work as part of a complete brew house system, whether you\’re adding capacity or equipping a new facility.

Materials and Fabrication

We use SUS304 for standard fermentation service and SUS316L when the product demands higher corrosion resistance—sour beers, fruit additions, or aggressive cleaning chemicals. The inner shell is 3mm, dimpled cooling jackets are 1.5mm, and the outer cladding is 2mm. Every weld is TIG welded, then pickled and passivated. Interior surfaces are mirror-polished to Ra≤0.4μm to reduce beer stone adhesion and give CIP chemicals full contact.

Cone angle is 60° for most ales, though 70° is available for lagers or when you want faster yeast dropout. The dished top and conical bottom are formed, not fabricated from segments, so there are fewer seams to clean and no stress points to crack under pressure cycling.

Cooling, Pressure, and Cleaning

Dimpled jackets cover the cone and lower cylinder. Glycol enters at the bottom port and exits at the top, which avoids air pockets and gives even heat removal during active fermentation. Working pressure is 0.3MPa; the tank is tested at 0.4MPa. A pressure relief valve and a 60° conical bottom drain are standard. CIP is handled through a rotating spray ball mounted in the top manway—no need to open the tank between brews. Sample valve, racking arm, and dry-hop port are positioned for easy access on a mezzanine or from the floor, depending on your tank height.

Selection Notes

Small brewpubs often run 2000L tanks on a single brewhouse turn. Commercial breweries stacking 5000L fermenters usually need a dedicated glycol chiller and more careful piping layout—the larger cone volume means more yeast to harvest and more weight on the tank legs. If you\’re planning to carbonate in-tank, specify the pressure rating accordingly. Don\’t size fermenters by batch volume alone; account for headspace and the fact that you\’ll lose volume to yeast and dry-hop absorption.

FAQ

What\’s the lead time for a custom tank? Typically 30–45 days after drawing approval, depending on whether you need 316L or custom nozzle placement.

Can these tanks be used for lagering? Yes, with 70° cone and jacket coverage on both cone and cylinder. You\’ll need a glycol system capable of holding 0–2°C.

How do I connect glycol, CIP, and beer lines? We provide a nozzle schedule with the quote. DIN, Tri-Clamp, or SMS connections are available—tell us what your existing brewery uses.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
