Description
When a brewery moves from 10BBL to 20BBL batches, the fermenter becomes a bottleneck point. This 2500L unit is built for that step — not a scaled-up homebrew vessel, but a production tank with the jacket area and pressure rating to match a real fermentation schedule.
Tank Construction and Material Choices
We fabricate the body and cone from 304 stainless steel as standard, with 316L available when the beer or cleaning chemistry demands better chloride resistance. The inner shell is 3mm, outer cladding 2mm. Welds are TIG, fully penetrated, then pickled and passivated. The interior is polished to 0.4–0.6 Ra; exterior can be brushed or mirror-polished depending on your cellar look.
Every tank gets a dimpled cooling jacket on the cone and lower cylinder. For a 20BBL fermenter, we typically size the jacket to handle a 1°C/hour crash from 18°C to 2°C without stressing your chiller. Glycol ports are 1.5in TC, positioned so they don\’t fight the racking arm or dry-hop port.
Pressure, Safety, and Cleanability
The tank is rated to 15 psi working pressure and hydro-tested at 1.5x. A 2.5in top-mounted pressure relief valve is standard, but we adjust the set point to match your spunding valve or PRV strategy. The 60° cone is steep enough for yeast dumping without a rousing pump on most ales. CIP is handled through a rotating spray ball in the dome, with a separate 1.5in port for your caustic return. No internal dead legs — the racking arm and sample valve seat flush with the cone wall.
For European clients, we supply tanks with CE marked components where required and PED-compliant documentation. Voltage and control panel configuration are matched to your local standard.
Practical Selection Notes
A 2500L fermenter suits breweries producing 15–20BBL batches with room for headspace. If you are fermenting high-gravity beers or want to double-batch, consider the cone volume and yeast crop size. For lagers, the jacket area matters more than the tank volume — tell us your target crash time and we will confirm the cooling surface.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
