Description

Beer Fermentation Tanks for 2,000–5,000 L Batches

These jacketed conical tanks handle primary fermentation and conditioning for ales, lagers, and pilot batches. We build them for craft breweries and beverage plants that need stable temperature control and clean-in-place operation. A fermenter is not a standalone brewhouse. It needs chilled water, CIP supply, and access around the manway.

We use SS304 for product contact on most beer duty. SS316L is available for high-chloride cleaning or mixed beverage production. Interior welds are ground, pickled, and passivated. We polish to 0.4–0.8 µm Ra on request. A rough interior hides soil and makes CIP verification harder. Exterior can stay 2B mill finish or be brushed. Clamp or DIN connections follow your brewery standard; we do not mix standards on one tank unless requested.

Cooling jackets are sized by batch volume and crash-cooling target, not tank volume alone. A 2,000 L tank with one jacket may struggle to pull 20°C to 2°C in 24 hours. Tell us coolant temperature and desired ramp rate. Pressure rating and safety valve setting are tied: a 3 bar design pressure needs a relief valve set below that, plus a vacuum breaker for CIP and cold crash. CIP normally runs through a spray ball in the top manway with return from the cone outlet. Label CIP, glycol, and racking lines.

FAQ

Which capacity should I choose? Match tank volume to batch size plus headspace. A 2,000 L tank is not for 2,000 L of wort if you need krausen space; plan 20–25% headspace. Use a larger tank for double batches.

Do I need a conical bottom? Conical tanks drop yeast and trub without racking. If you package from the tank, cone angle and outlet size matter. Flat-bottom tanks suit some conditioning but are harder to clean.

How is CIP connected? Spray ball on top, return from cone, and separate sample and racking ports. Use dedicated CIP and glycol lines; cross-connections cause contamination and temperature swings.

What information do you need for a quote? Batch size, beer type, number of tanks, available height, coolant temperature, and utility connections. Send a layout sketch if the room is tight.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
