Description

Built for a 300L taproom batch

This 300L two-vessel brewhouse suits a taproom brewery that brews several times a week and wants predictable wort without a full three-vessel line. We usually configure it as a combination mash/lauter tun and kettle/whirlpool, with a working volume around 300L and a practical cast-out of 250–300L depending on gravity and trub loss. For core beers between 11 and 14°P, this frame keeps the footprint small and the workflow repeatable.

Vessels are fabricated in SUS304. For standard beer duty, 304 handles wort, cleaning chemicals and daily service well; we reserve 316L for chloride exposure or specific process demands. Sheet thickness is selected from vessel diameter and jacket pressure, not from a catalog default. Internal welds are ground and treated, then surfaces are pickled and passivated so the wort-contact area is ready for repeated CIP. Exterior finish stays practical—brushed or 2B—because mirror polishing a brewhouse adds cost without improving wort quality. Gaskets are selected for wort and cleaning temperatures; EPDM is standard, with silicone available where higher-temperature cleaning is routine.

What matters at installation

The brewhouse needs steam, electric or direct-fired heat, plus cooling water and CIP connections. The heat source changes the utility and control package, so confirm it before drawings are released. The kettle/whirlpool requires a tangential inlet for whirlpool formation; if the pump and piping are undersized, trub separation becomes inconsistent. We allow for hop ports, sight glass, sample valve, pressure gauge and safety valve as required by local codes.

A two-vessel system works in a taproom when operators can clean and transfer between batches without waiting. For double brews or high-gravity production, ask for a larger kettle or separate whirlpool rather than pushing this frame beyond its comfortable duty.

Parameter Typical configuration
Batch volume 300L nominal; 250–300L cast-out
Vessels Mash/lauter tun + kettle/whirlpool
Material SUS304; 316L optional
Heating Electric, steam or direct fired
Control Manual or PLC/HMI options
CIP Spray ball and wort-contact fittings

FAQ

Can we brew 300L every day? Yes, with adequate cleaning and heating recovery. Continuous double batches are better served by a three-vessel layout or buffer tanks.

Do we need 316L? Not for most taproom wort duty. Use 304 unless your water, cleaners or local rules call for 316L.

What should we send for a quote? Batch size, expected gravity, beer styles, heat source, available footprint, utility limits and planned batches per week.

Tell us your batch size, beer styles, heat source and available floor space. We can recommend the vessel volume, heating package and piping configuration for your brewhouse.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
