450L Copper Steam Still — What We Actually Build
Most people asking us about a 450L unit are already running a 200L and hitting its ceiling, or they want to skip 300L altogether. It is a good middle size. Two people can still run it, and a two-turn day fills ten to twelve 53-gallon barrels. If you plan three runs a week off one fermenter, though, you should be pricing 500L or 1000L instead — not stretching a 450.

Steam or electric — where the money really goes
Steam heat means a boiler, piping and insulation. Clients wince at that cost until they see the amperage a 450L electric still pulls and what their service panel can take. Direct fire gives the deepest copper contact for whiskey, and we build it, but scorching on grain-in washes is real and the fire marshal usually has an opinion.
We put copper where it does work: boiler, swan neck, lyne arm, condenser. Trays and plates run stainless in most builds — copper plates foul fast and can strip sulfur notes you may actually want in the spirit.
Before you ask for a quote
Send us heating method, spirit type, runs per week, steam pressure or available kW, ceiling height, and door width. Those five numbers decide the frame, flange positions and whether the column ships in one piece or two. We draw the unit around your room rather than the other way around.
