Description

Most breweries that move to a 5,000 L plant do it because fermentation, not brewing, has become the constraint. This skid covers the full train — hot liquor tank, mash/lauter tun, boil kettle with whirlpool, and matched fermenters — sized so a two-person crew can run a brew, knock out, and clean within one shift.

Shell material is SUS304 by default; we switch the fermenters and mash tun to SUS316L when the CIP program runs caustic at higher concentration or when chloride in the local water supply is a concern. Brewhouse shells run 3 mm, fermenters 3–4 mm. Interior surfaces get a 2B finish, welds are ground and passivated, and every cooling jacket on the cone and lower cylinder is dimple-formed and hydro-tested at 1.5× working pressure before shipment.

Temperature control is the part buyers underestimate. Fermentation generates heat, and a 5,000 L batch of ale can climb several degrees in the first 48 hours if jacket area is short. We size cooling surface against your fermentation profile, not against nominal volume. Cone angle is 60° for standard ales and lagers; steeper cones help with dry-hopped beers and heavy trub loads.

CIP is built in: spray ball on the dome, dedicated CIP return on the cone, and separate ports for racking arm, sample valve, and pressure relief. Glycol and beer piping connections are tri-clamp so your crew can break lines without tools.

Questions we get before quoting

Can the same plant handle lagers and ales? Yes, but lager schedules need more tank volume and larger cooling area for the longer cold crash. Tell us the split.
Is a 60° cone always right? No. High-adjunct and heavily dry-hopped recipes often justify a steeper cone.
Who sets the safety valve? We set it at the certified working pressure and ship the certificate with the vessel.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
