Description

A 1000 L or 1500 L turnkey brewery is usually specified by batch size, not by tank count. We build the brewhouse, fermenters, glycol loop and CIP set as one package, so the brewhouse outlet matches the cellar volume and the chiller can pull down after knockout. For most ales and lagers, plan 1.5 to 2 brews per fermenter fill and leave 20–25% headspace for krausen. If your packaged beer mix includes heavily dry-hopped IPAs, add more headspace or use a larger fermenter.

Fermenter temperature control drives the design. A 1000 L tank may need 1.2–1.5 m² of cooling jacket; 1500 L tanks need more jacket area and a glycol supply that can handle simultaneous crash cooling. We use dimple or pillow jackets on the cone and lower cylinder. The jacket pressure rating is separate from the tank working pressure; do not use the jacket as a pressure vessel. Set the safety valve at or below the tank design pressure and test it during commissioning.

Material choice: SUS304 is standard for brewhouse and fermenter wetted parts. SUS316L makes sense for high-chloride cleaning, coastal plants or extended acid washes. We TIG weld, passivate and polish wetted surfaces; internal welds are ground and brushed where product contact matters. Sanitary clamps, EPDM or silicone gaskets and butterfly valves are selected by cleaning regime, not by price. Conical bottoms help yeast harvest and trub dump. Flat-bottom tanks suit some cellar layouts but make dry hopping and yeast removal less predictable.

CIP is only effective when the spray ball covers the cone, cylinder and manway. We size the pump and piping for the tank volume and confirm return flow before shipment. Glycol, CIP and product lines should be labeled and valved so operators cannot cross-connect them.

FAQ

1000 L or 1500 L? Start from packaged volume and fermentation turns per week. A 1000 L system suits small craft and brewpub production; 1500 L gives more flexibility for contract batches but needs matching chiller and cellar space.

What do we need before quotation? Batch size, beer types, expected turns, tank count, available height and utility capacity. Send those details and we can fix tank volume, cooling area and configuration.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
