Description
8000L Stainless Steel Fermentation Tank — Built to European Pressure Vessel Standards
An 8000L tank usually means a 10,000L gross vessel holding 8,000L of wort. That size fits breweries pushing 8–10 brews a week into one fermenter, or double-batching a 4,000L brewhouse. We build these as unitanks unless the process calls for a separate bright beer tank downstream.
Materials and fabrication
Wetted surfaces in SUS304 (1.4301) are our default. For sour programs or high-acid fruit additions, we weld the shell in 316L (1.4404), or supply the entire vessel in 316L if you plan on long-term repitching with aggressive cleaning. Plate runs 3 mm on the shell, 4 mm on the cone for the extra load at the yeast dump. After welding we pickle and passivate the seam areas; interior polish sits at Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, and Ra ≤ 0.4 µm when you are harvesting yeast for reuse.
Dimple jackets cover the cone and lower cylinder, where the heat load actually sits during peak fermentation. Jackets are hydro-tested at 6 bar, the vessel design pressure is 3 bar with 1.5–2 bar working pressure for carbonation, and a safety valve sized to the tank sits on the CIP arm next to the pressure gauge.

Questions we get before every quote
Is a cone necessary? For top-cropping ale strains and pressurized carbonation, yes. A flat bottom is cheaper, but it limits dry hopping and yeast dumping later.
Glycol or direct expansion? Most 8000L tanks run a glycol loop at −4 to −6 °C. Direct expansion saves pump energy but demands tight suction control so the jacket does not freeze.
How does CIP work here? Rotating spray ball on the top manway, dedicated return at the cone, 1.5–2% caustic at 70–80 °C. The racking arm and sample valve need their own flush path.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
