Description

Glycol Jacket Isobaric Conical Fermenter, 500L–3000L

We build these vessels for breweries that need stable fermentation temperature and reliable pressure control. The glycol jacket covers the cone and lower cylinder; on larger tanks, we add a separate upper jacket when crash cooling or dry hopping loads demand it. Capacity depends on batch size, headspace and whether you package from tank or transfer to brite beer tanks.

Materials and fabrication

Standard tanks use SUS304 for beer contact, with 304 or 316L options for high-chloride water or aggressive CIP chemistry. 316L is common for coastal breweries and kombucha producers. We TIG weld internal seams, then pickle and passivate. Product contact surfaces are 2B mill finish or 320–400 grit polish; external surfaces can be brushed or mirror polished. Sanitary tri-clamp ports, DIN/ISO connections and EPDM/silicone gaskets are selected to match your cleaning routine.

Pressure rating matters. Isobaric tanks normally work at 1.5–3.0 bar design pressure, with a calibrated safety valve, pressure gauge and blow-off assembly. The relief setting must be higher than your carbonation pressure and lower than the tank test pressure. We hydro-test every unit and document weld maps for traceability.

Cooling and cleaning

Glycol flows through dimple or channel jackets. For 500L–1000L pilot systems, a single-zone jacket often works. At 2000L and above, dual-zone jackets give better control during active fermentation and crash cooling. CIP uses a rotating spray ball in the dome, with a dedicated CIP port and drain. Keep separate lines for glycol, CO2 and CIP; cross-connections cause contamination and pressure faults.

FAQ

Which volume should I choose? Match the tank to net batch plus 20–25% headspace. A 1000L tank usually holds 800–850L of fermenting beer without foam blow-off.

Do I need a conical bottom? For yeast cropping, dry hopping and clearer transfers, yes. Flat-bottom tanks suit some sour or mixed-fermentation rooms but make yeast removal harder.

304 or 316L? Most beer lines run 304. 316L helps where chloride exposure or acidic cleaning is routine. Do not assume 316L replaces proper passivation.

Can I add a carb stone or dry hop port? Yes. We position them to avoid obstructing the CIP spray ball and to keep dry hop additions from clogging the racking arm.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
