Description
Most inquiries for this vessel come from wineries and cider houses that have outgrown open-top bins but are not ready to rebuild a whole cellar. The 2000L unit sits in the middle of our standard range — 500L, 1000L, 1500L, 2000L, 5000L — and it is the size that leaves the shop most often.
What the tank does
It is a closed, jacketed vessel for primary fermentation, maceration, and cold stabilization. A glycol jacket on the shell (and optionally the cone) pulls heat out of an active must, so you can hold 18–22°C through a hot ferment or drop to 4°C for settling without moving the wine.
Fabrication details that matter
- Shell 2–3mm, dished top, 60° or 90° cone bottom
- SUS304 for standard must and juice; 316L where chloride in the water or high-acid cider is a concern
- TIG welds, ground, pickled and passivated; interior 2B finish or mirror polish on request
- 50–80mm polyurethane insulation under a #4 satin or mirror-clad jacket
- Dimple or channel jacket sized from your glycol supply temperature, not from a catalog number
Typical specifications

Questions we get before an order
Is a cone bottom necessary? For reds with skins and for lees separation, yes. For juice-only whites, a flat or shallow cone works and costs less.
Why 304 vs 316L? 304 handles wine fine. 316L is worth the upcharge when chlorides are present in your cleaning water or product.
How does CIP work? A rotating spray ball on the top tri-clamp, run with warm caustic then acid, drained through the cone. Racking arm and sample valve come apart without tools.
Small craft vs commercial scale? A 500–1000L unit is usually moved empty and cooled by a small chiller; 2000L and up need a fixed glycol loop, a plumbed CIP line, and floor space for a 2.5m+ vessel.
Send us your batch size, wine or cider type, number of tanks, and the headroom you actually have. We will size the jacket area, cone angle, and fitting layout around it.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
