Description

Brewhouse Systems From 500L to 2000L

We build brewhouses for brewers who have already outgrown pilot batches but still want room to change recipes. The 500L, 800L, 1000L, 1500L and 2000L sizes share the same platform layout, so a brewery can start small and scale up without relearning the process. Each system covers mash, lautering, boiling and whirlpool, either as a two-vessel or three-vessel arrangement depending on how much flexibility you need between steps.

Vessel Construction and Material Choices

Our vessels are built from SUS304 as standard, with SUS316L available for the wort contact surfaces when the brewhouse will run high-adjunct grists or aggressive cleaning cycles. Interior welds are ground, pickled and passivated, then polished to a roughness below 0.8 µm so protein and hop residue release cleanly during CIP. Exterior surfaces get a brushed finish or mirror polish, whichever suits your taproom. All vessels are dimple-jacketed for steam or direct-fired heating, with 50 mm rock wool insulation and a stainless cladding that keeps surface temperatures safe in a working room.

Practical Details That Affect Daily Brewing

False bottoms use wedged wire screens at 0.7 mm slot width; wider slots speed runoff but let husk through, so we match the slot to your mill gap. Lauter tun rakes run on a variable-speed drive with a raise/lower mechanism, which matters when you switch between wheat-heavy and barley-only recipes. The whirlpool has a tangential inlet sized to the vessel diameter—too small and you get a weak trub cone, too large and the wort spins without settling. We also fit a separate grant and wort grant return line; brewers who skip this usually come back for it later.

Questions We Hear Before Ordering

Two vessels or three? Two-vessel systems work well up to about 1000L if you brew single batches daily. Above that, decoction steps and back-to-back batches push you toward a separate mash tun and lauter tun.

Can I add capacity later? Yes, if the platform, steam supply and floor drains are sized for the final target now. Re-piping a brewhouse after installation costs far more than specifying the larger frame at the start.

What about the space? A 2000L three-vessel set typically needs 8–10 m of linear wall space plus clearance for the grist case and heat exchanger.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
